Q&A With Director Shaun Telford after screening

Boredom and bad decisions are a part of life in far-off places like BFE. Young and old struggle to live free or die trying. Including Grampa (Wally Dalton) who has a terminal illness but won’t go down without a fight. His grandson Ian (Ian Lerch), on the other hand, tries to teach the old man how to live, while at the same time, catch the eye of the troubled and angelic Ellie (Kelsey Packwood), whose feelings for Ian may be more than mutual. The problem is, Ellie’s popular boyfriend Zack (Alek Greenleaf), who like everyone in this small, isolated town on the edge of nowhere doesn’t want to be the last virgin.

DIRECTOR'S BIO
Shawn Telford is an award-winning Actor/Writer/Director whose feature film BFE was one of five American films selected for US in Progress, part of the Champs-Élysées Film Festival in Paris, France where an unfinished version of the film screened to a private audience of European film professionals who offered insight, feedback and also awarded BFE a Special Mention.

Shawn’s short films and videos have played a number of film festivals, including Seattle International Film Festival, Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, 1 Reel, San Francisco Independent Film Festival and the Jecheon Int’l Music & Film Festival in Korea, among others. He received his MFA in acting from the University of Washington’s elite PATP (Professional Actor Training Program) and has appeared several times onstage at all of Seattle’s major theaters including the Seattle Repertory Theatre, ACT, the Intiman and the Seattle Children’s Theatre, as well as a number of film, video, commercial and industrial projects.

His TV credits include co-starring roles on NBC’s Grimm, TNT’s Leverage and CBS’s the Fugitive. Regardless of these fine credits, he is most often recognized for his role as the train guy in the Washington State Lottery “Department of Imagination” commercials and occasionally as the “BECU” guy who has for years has appeared on BECU ATMs. In addition to teaching and tutoring, Shawn has also been a guest teaching artist at Seattle Children’s Theatre, the Film School, Shoreline Community College and North Seattle Community College. Since 2005, Shawn has also been a Casting Assistant at Complete Casting, where he has cast projects for film, TV, print and Internet for a diversity of clients ranging from Microsoft to Toyota, Chevrolet, Campbell’s Soup, Boeing, Xbox, AT&T and many, many more. Shawn is also a professional writer. Since 1998, he has written music criticism as well as arts and entertainment pieces for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Rocket, the Tablet, Seattle Sound Magazine and the Louisville Eccentric Observer where his insightful and evocative journalism has warranted more than one death threat.
